Grading
Projects will be graded on each part, Art and Social Studies. Students are required to hand in daily reports throughout the designated length of the project, which are graded towards classroom participation. Many projects require oral presentations as well. Students will also be expected to work together in cooperative learning situations for some projects.
The percentage breakdown for grades in C.L.A.S.S. is as follows:
Projects- 50%
Class Participation- 20%
Tests/Quizzes/Critiques/Written Work- 30%
Students requiring extra help or time to complete projects may see the teacher in advance to schedule a time to come in after school to work on projects.
Projects
Projects are divided into two parts, an Art part and a Social Studies part, both interdependent on one another. The most common format is some form of written component, which fulfills the Social studies aspect, and either a 2D or 3D component, which fulfills the Art aspect. Many projects involve internet research, either as a launch activity or as a full project, with research and activities related to both the Art and Social Studies aspects.
Notebooks
Students are required to keep a 3 ring binder for C.L.A.S.S., in which they will keep all Art and Social Studies notes and materials given to them throughout the course. Notebooks will be checked and graded each 6-week marking period.
Class Participation
Attendance is taken on a daily basis in this class. You cannot succeed in this class if you are not present to do the work.
