Greek & roman Architecture:

Architects Challenge!

Objective:

We are living in Roman times.   You are an architect, desperate for work.   Mrs. Burwell and Mr. Huckle are two wealthy patrons looking for a new dwelling.   You will be competing against 9 other architects to win the privilege of designing our home!

Criteria:

•  You will be presenting your future patrons with architectural designs- both interior and exterior.

•  You should provide some sort of measurement scale- ex. 1 inch =1 foot.

•  You will want to keep in mind what sort of materials you are going to use and what colors you will use.

•  You will need to use accurate architectural details from the time period.

•  You will want to design the house for our needs.   Mrs. Burwell is a historian who likes to read, I am an artist.   You may choose to interview us about our likes and dislikes to aid in your designs.

•  Remember, these are Roman times!   Your designs should reflect this!

Time Frame:

We will spend part of one class period for the introduction of this project, then you will have 2 class days to do internet or book research.   You will then have 5-6 class periods to work on your plans.   There will be two class periods of presentations on 2/17 & 2/18.   Mrs. Burwell and Mr. Huckle will decide which set of plans are the best, and award the winner a prize.
