Studio in Art is a one-year introductory art course divided into 2 parts- Studio Art 1 and Studio Art 2.  The focus is on implementing the elements of art and principles of design into art projects working with various media.  There is a strong focus on drawing and 2D design, as well as work with different graphics programs and internet-research.  Students participate in project critiques to learn how to discuss artwork and the influences that art plays throughout many different aspects of world culture.

Studio in Art is a prerequisite for Drawing & Painting, Computer Graphics, Sculpture and various independent studies. Studio in Art 1&2 together provide a full credit of art needed to graduate from High School in New York State. It is also the beginning step for those students seeking a 5 unit sequence in art/music.
