Grading

The percentage breakdown for grades in Studio in Art is as follows:

Projects- 35%
Sketchbooks- 20%
Sketchbook Completion- 10%
Class Participation- 20%
Tests/Quizzes/Critiques/Written Work- 15%

Projects and Late Work Policy

Students will be informed of all project requirements that must be fulfilled before beginning work on a project.  Projects are graded on the fulfillment of specific project criteria as well as class participation. 

Projects that are turned in after the due date will lose 10 points a day until they are turned in or become a zero.

Students who have an extended illness or family crisis that is cleared through the office will receive an extension on the project comparable to the time missed.

Students requiring extra help or time to complete projects may see the teacher in advance to schedule a time to come in after school to work on projects.

Class Participation

Attendance is taken on a daily basis in this class.  You cannot succeed in this class if you are not present to do the work. 

• If you are more than 15 minutes tardy for class you are considered absent for the day. 
• If you are sent to the office for disciplinary reasons you will be marked as absent. 
• If you are absent more than 4 classes during a 6-week grading block you will lose 10% of your grade (you start at 90 rather than 100). 
• If you are absent more than 9 classes you will lose all 20% of this category (you start at 80 rather than 100). 
• You may make up classes that you miss by arranging to stay after during 10th period or coming in during your study halls.
•  Each time you stay after you will receive credit for one missed class.
•  Staying during detention period for disciplinary reasons does not count as making up a missed class.
