6TH GRADE HOME AND CAREER

 

WELCOME!

Classroom Rules

·        Be polite and cooperative at all times.

·        Respect others and their property.

·        Be on task - pay attention.

·        Be prepared.

 

Please bring the following to class each day:

·        agenda

·        assignment/homework

·        pencil and pen (blue or black ink)                         

·        binder containing organized class notes

·        folder containing loose-leaf paper

 

Homework and Projects

·        Write all assignments in student agenda.

·        Hand in all assignments on time.  NO credit will be given for late work.

·        It is YOUR responsibility to get assignments when you are absent.  All missed assignments are to be made up in a timely fashion.

·        Neatness counts!  Write both your first and last name on assignments.  Assignments on loose leaf must also include the date and page number or topic of assignment.  Written work must be legible or it will have to be redone.

·        Incomplete/lost homework will be made up during lunch/after school detention periods, however, credit is not given for late work.

Quizzes/Tests

·        Write upcoming quizzes/tests in student agenda.

·        Be prepared for the occasional pop quiz.

·        All quizzes/tests must be made up in a timely fashion.

 

Music/Band/Other activities/Illness

·        Frequent absenteeism will lower your grade.  We all have days when we don’t feel our best.  However, unless you are seriously ill, you should attend school. 

·        It is YOUR responsibility to inform me that you will not be in class.

·        You must hand in homework and take quizzes/test BEFORE attending lessons.

·        YOU are responsible for class work, notes, homework, etc., that you miss due to lessons/activities. 

 

Course Description

 

The sixth grade Home and Career class is a 13-week course.  The following topics will be covered but not necessarily in the order listed.

q       Nutrition—emphasis will be on breakfast and snack

q       Communication

q       Time Management

q       Study and Test-taking Skills

q       Goal Setting

q       Hand Sewing Skills

Your grade will be based on the following:

          Class work/homework           30%

            Tests/Projects                                    50%

            Binder/notebook                    10%

            Participation                          10%
