When students enter the classroom each day, they are
encouraged to examine the "Busy Bee Bulletin Board," where they can
read names of students responsible for classroom jobs. The following are
weekly assignments:
Secretary - This student is
asked to collect math homework and record whether or not the
homework was submitted on a given running record. As well, this student
distributes needed classroom materials.
Gardener - This student waters the plants in the
classroom.
Desk Patrol - This student encourages the other
students in the classroom to maintain a neat and orderly desk. He/She
reports directly to the teacher if concerns arise.
Messenger - This student takes the attendance cards
to the office and may be called upon if other errands outside the classroom are
needed.
Two jobs which change on a daily basis are the
following:
Math Assistant - Following the
Saxon Math Instruction Plan, this student is responsible for completing the
tasks on a Math Assistant 3x5 card. During the Morning Math Meeting, this
student assists the teacher and writes answers to given math questions on the
Math Meeting Wall.
Leader - This student
leads the class in the "Pledge of Allegiance" and appropriately leads
the class to all specials and lunch. His/Her job is completed at the end
of the day when this student leads the class to the buses for dismissal.
About
Snack
- Students may bring $0.40 if they would like to purchase milk from the
school. The students may opt to bring in healthy snacks; however, it is
not mandatory. Each student will be responsible for his/her own
snack. When celebrating birthdays, students may bring in sweet treats for
the whole class if they would like to do so. However, on a daily basis we
would like to encourage healthy eating habits.
