My name is Mrs. Burnett.  This is my sixth year teaching second grade.  I can't imagine doing anything more rewarding and exciting!   My hobbies include reading, scrapbooking, shopping, and working on my web page.  Here are a few of my favorites:

In my classroom I work very hard to create an atmosphere of community.  The students know from the minute they walk in the door that there is a feeling of mutual respect and communication.  I believe every student has something wonderful to offer and it is my job to help them discover and explore it.  Students understand that everyone needs to collaborate and cooperate for us to achieve our ultimate success.  Children will usually rise to your expectations.  That is why I believe in high expectations, yet I celebrate the smallest of accomplishments.  Students in my room know they are never in competition with anyone other than themselves.  It is their own drive to do a little better each time that fuels them on.  I believe for anyone to learn they must be treated with kindness, understanding, and compassion. 

We learn, we laugh, and we grow!
