Star of the Week Information
Here are the special activities that your child will participate in during their "Star of the Week" time.
Monday - Star Sharing Sack - Students will bring a backpack (provided by me) with five items that they feel most describe their personality. The rest of the class will try to guess what the items are before they are shared. Students should also bring the largest picture they have of themselves, family photos and photos of any pets. They will also write the following (each on a separate piece of paper): favorite book, hobbies, favorite sport, what they want to be when they grow up, and favorite foods. This will be posted on the "Star of the Week" bulletin board.
Tuesday - Lovely Lunch Buddies - Students may pick two people to eat lunch with them in the room. Students really enjoy it when a love one comes in on this day to surprise them. We eat lunch at 12:15. If you are planning on coming in, or sending a relative, please let me know in advance. This is a really special treat for the child.
Wednesday - Star Performance - Students choose their favorite book or poem to read to the class. This may be a book they have at home or one from the class library.
Thursday - Star Bio - Students will write their autobiographies (on a worksheet provided by me) stating what is special and unique about them. They will share this with the class.
Friday - Hollywood Squares - Students will make true and false statements about themselves. The class will take turns agreeing or disagreeing with the statements (time permitting).
The new "Star of the Week" is announced and the former "Star" gives the parent/guardian letter and backpack to the new "Star".
