Lesson 1 Vocabulary:
globe-a model of the earth. Shows how the earth looks from space
direction- the point in which you face, four cardinal directions are: north, south, west, east, and the in between directions are northeast, southeast, southwest, and northwest
compass rose-direction finder
North Pole-the most northern part on earth
South Pole-the most southern place on earth

Lesson 2 vocabulary
map-a flat drawing that shows what the earth, or part of the earth, looks like from above
symbols-different colors or shapes that stand for real things or places on the earth
map key-explains what the symbols on a map mean
Lesson 3 Vocabulary
state-a small part of a country
state capital-a special community where sate leaders meet to make decisions for the state
border-where one state touches another
The smallest state is Rhode Island
The largest state is Alaska

Lesson 4 Vocabulary
continent- largest land form on earth
hemisphere-one half of the earth
equator-imaginary line that divides the earth in half
The 7 continents on earth are:
North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica
The largest continent is Asia
The smallest continent is Australia
