The Yellowjacket Anthology of Poetry

-a webquest for middle school students

Conclusion

If you have completed this assignment, you now know much more than you did before.  You have finished a voyage of discovery. You have defended the honor, reputation, and work of a published poet. You have played a part in compiling an anthology, each poet and poem no more important than another. Hopefully, you are no longer contemptuous of poetry, but see it as the incredible work of art that it can be.

Poetry is infinitely powerful. It can bring a man to tears, inspire a nation to fight, or melt the coldest of hearts with its unquenchable fire. Poetry can be your salvation, or your fortress of solitude.  Don't stop here. Visit the Library of Congress page for daily poems from our Poet Laureate, Billy Collins. Or better yet, visit your public library and explore the miles of poetry waiting on the shelves. Make poetry a part of you.
