ELEMENTARY MATH

Currently I work with grades 2-5 in the Academic Intervention Services (AIS) math program. I have a variety of teaching environments that I work in.  It may be small groups either in the regular class or in a separate classroom, working with specific students within a regular class, or teaching the whole class.  Various methods are used including re-teaching a lesson, helping with homework/class work, providing additional exercises and using manipulatives.

Presently Madrid-Waddington Elementary uses SAXON Math Program.  This program uses a continuous cycle of review of all topics throughout the year. Students have a "Math Meeting" almost daily where Calendar, Time, Money, Patterns, and word problems are covered.  Daily lessons teach math concepts with guided practices of that concept, and review material are done in class. Students will then take home a practice sheet to be worked on with their parents.

Students that meet certain criteria are eligible for special services that will help them with their math. This program is a state wide program known as Academic Intervention Services (AIS).  The AIS Plan that MWCS uses is found by clicking on the AIS .
