Section 1 Purpose of the Class
The purpose of General Science 9 is to give students:
- 1 credit toward High School Graduation
- provide one of three science credits needed
- prepare students for taking Regents Biology
- classification
- Characteristics of organisms from Bacteria to Animals
- Human biology
- Environmental interactions
- Ecology
Various books and resource materials are used in class. Library Resources will also be used for research.
1 ½ to 2 inch binder with dividers and paper
spiral notebook 80 pages or more
pen ( not red, or pink)
pencil
colored pencils minimum 6 colors
40 % test and major projects
20 % homework, class work and minor projects
10 % notebook
15 % class participation
15 % quizzes
Students will be responsible for any work that is missed.
-Students missing only the day of a test will make it up the day they return.
-Students missing 2 or more days will need to make specific arrangements for making up the test.
-Students missing homework/class work will make up the assignment the next day.
-Work not made up by the end of the marking period will receive a 0 for that assignment.
All work will be turned in on loose leaf paper with complete sentences (unless specified by the instructor), and with the proper heading.
