TOPICS TEXTBOOK REQUIRED MATERIAL GRADING MAKE-UP HOMEWORK/CLASS WORK
Section 1 Purpose of the Class
The purpose of Science 7 is to give students:
- 1 credit toward Jr. High School advancement
- prepare students for taking High School Science Classes
Section 2 TOPICS
- Bacteria to Plants
- Animals
- Inside the Earth
- Weather
- Human Biology
Section 3 TEXTBOOK
Science 7 classes will be using a Prentice Hall Unit Book Series. This series has 15 units which will cover the topics that are found on the New York State Science 8 test. Presently we have 5 units for grade 7.
Section 4 REQUIRED MATERIAL
1 ½ to 2 inch binder with dividers, a pocket folder, and paper
spiral notebook 80 pages or more
pencil or pen ( not red, pink or gel)
colored pencils minimum 6 colors
Section 5 GRADING
40 % test and major projects
20 % homework, class work and minor projects
10 % notebook
15 % class participation
15 % quizzes
Section 6 MAKE-UP POLICY
Students will be responsible for any work that is missed.
-Students missing only the day of a test will make it up the day they return.
-Students missing 2 or more days will need to make specific arrangements for making up the test.
-Students missing homework/class work will make up the assignment the next day.
-Work not made up by the end of the marking period will receive a 0 for that assignment.
Section 7 HOMEWORK/CLASS WORK
All work will be turned in on loose leaf paper with complete sentences (unless specified by the instructor), and with the proper heading.
