II. STUDENT ASSIGNMENT CALENDARS

A.     Reading and test schedule are made up monthly and will not change. 

If you are absent, then you will need to make up missed work. 

This includes snow-days and any absences.  Please plan accordingly. 

A grade of zero will be assigned until quiz, tests, and/or homework assignments are made up.

IV. ATTENDANCE

            Daily attendance will be taken.  Students must make up all missed assignments,

B.     Unit Tests- 40%

C.     Homework- 15%

D.    Novel Packets and Essays- 25%

VI. CLASSROOM CONDUCT

            Students will obey all rules that are printed in the Student Handbook. 

            Please be on time and bring a writing utensil (not red), textbook and notebook to

class everyday.

Essays—“Details” for Analysis (Task 3 &4)

Details may be a combination of figurative language terms, literary elements, and/or style/form.

 

 

Each body paragraph will repeat the “A,B,C,D” process THREE TIMES (Details).

A.     briefly Define the literary element

B.     Provide an Example from the Literature that supports the literary element

C.  Quote—“Proof”-- *** You may paraphrase the quote or put it in direct quotes.

D. How do A,B,C support evidence of the Literature’s Theme and/or the “Critical Lens”?         ***Theme--

Rites of Passages

An event that happens to an individual that opens the door from childhood to adulthood. 

Sometimes dealing with death can cause a person to mature quickly and/or beyond their years.

 

Barry’s rites of Passage involves his relationship with his dying father.  (You finish the rest!)

14.) Aroma-- odor or scent (noun)

15.) Wary-- cautious or suspicious (adjective)

16.) Tutor-- to teach or instruct (noun or adjective)

17.) Biographical-- a true story pertaining to a person’s life (noun or adjective)

18.) Culmination-- conclusion or combination (noun or verb)

19.) Stereotype-- to fit into a group (verb, noun or adjective)

20.) Equestrian-- one who rides horses, usually an expert (noun or adjective)
