Writing: Journal night is Wednesday. The written assignment will be enclosed within the journal notebook. The directions on each journal assignment are asking the student to edit for mistakes. Then the parent needs to check a second time with their child for additional mistakes. This is a learning endeavor to assist the student in becoming a better writer. Journals will start on Wednesday, September 22. |
Accelerated Reader Book - read daily; The children are given 1 week to read their "A R" book. If they took their last test on Day 3, their next test would be on the next Day 3. Your child should know when their next quiz is. A new book is acquired on the day of the test if the Accelerated Reader quiz mark is 80 or above. If the grade is below 80, the student is required to read that book and be retested one more time. A few examples of books that beginning third graders read in our Accelerated Reading Program are the series called "Horrible Harry", "Junie B. Jones", and "The Magic Tree House". |
|
Weekend Homework:
There is
always homework on the weekend.
Flashcards should be studied and Accelerated Reader books should be
read on the weekends. If the book comes
home, there is reading that needs to be done. |

Accelerated Reader Quiz - Your child has 1 week to read his/her book. This is part of their homework assignment. Please make sure your child is reading their A.R. book each evening. When the week is up, your third grader will take the test even if they have not finished their book. Accelerated Reader books will be coming home to be read during the weekdays. Your child should know when their next A.R. quiz day is. There should be a "calendar" bookmark in your child's A.R. book. Please write on the bookmark how long your child read and then initial it. Please send the book back to school the next day so your child may read it during free time in school. |
