Course Description: Math 12 is an advanced high school math course covering topics in Trigonometry, Functions, Probability, Vectors, Conic Sections, Matrices and Limits. This course will not have a final exam and will culminate with a final project. Math 12 is designed to prepare you for a college mathematics course or next year’s Calculus class. At the start of each unit a copy of the topics, quiz dates, and test date will be handed out. It is expected that you will use this information to be prepared to ask questions and know when you are being evaluated. There will also be a copy of homework assignments posted on my school website. http://www.mwcsk12.org/faculty/tcreurer/index.html

- 55 % Tests - equal weight given to all 6 marking
periods and the final project
- 30 % Quizzes
- 15 % Homework
Attendence: Absent students are responsible for all work covered during their absence. Students will have 1 day per excused absence to make up material. Unexcused absences will not warrant extra time for homework assignments. If you are in school but have an early leave, or you arrive late and miss class, the homework assignment is still due that day.
Homework: Label all assignments with your name, date, page numbers and problem set. I will assign the amount of homework that I feel is necessary to practice the skills we have learned in class. I will collect homework assignments on a regular basis and use them as an indicator of the effort a student is putting forth in this class. Consequently, homework must show all work. An assignment will be given a score of 2 points if all problems are attempted and it is well organized and neatly written. A score of 1 point will be given to assignments that are more than 50% complete, neatly written and well organized. Incomplete assignments or one that is not legible or well organized will receive a 0.
Test Corrections – After each exam is returned, students should examine their tests to learn from their mistakes. I will provide the students with the opportunity to correct their tests and earn extra points. The corrections must not only show the correct answer but explain what the student did wrong the first time. Quiz corrections are worth 30% of the missed points (some short or pop quizzes will not be available for correction), test corrections are worth 20% of the missed points, and are added back to the original test grade. There will not be retests or other extra credit assignments. I am a big fan of original credit.
