FIRST GRADERS WELCOME GRANDPARENTS!
Friday, September 26th, was Grandparents' Day for first graders at Madrid-Waddington Elementary. Our class had 33 grandparents and special friends visit us. Grandparents enjoyed songs such as, "We Welcome You Today," "The Watermelon Song," and "We Love You Grandparents." They listened to a book entitled Fun With Grandparents that the children had written and dedicated to them. Since Johnny Appleseed's birthday is September 26th, each student was asked to bring in an apple. Grandparents watched on as students graphed the apples according to color and discussed the results. Students and grandparents then peeled and cut the apples up for applesauce. Each child then showed his/her grandparent(s) around the room before going to the cafeteria where everyone enjoyed punch and snacks. It was a great afternoon!
