Personal: Life Insurance
2 types: Whole and Term
Term: for a specific period of time (air flight, 70 years of your life)
Cheap, only pays off if you die
Whole Life Insurance: Like a savings plan. Pays off if you die, or can start taking money when you need to when older or disabled
Best time to buy life insurance is when you are young...less expensive
Property Insurance
Rental(ers) Insurance: Coverage for your personal property while you rent home from someone else. Low cost. Should have.
Household Insurance:
Fire: Inside contents as well as the structure
Property/liability: Lost diamond, ruined staircase from big party, pay out to people who hurt themselves on your property
Automobile:
Comprehensive: Acts of God (deer, limb falls, hail) cheap, optional
Collision: damage to your car (expensive, optional)
Liability: Damage your accident causes to others (others car) Mandatory
Health Insurance:
Usually a benefit from employer
Expensive to buy independently
Major Medical: benefits paid out for big medical expenses
Most kids covered under parent’s policy until 18 or out of school
Deductible: amount you have to pay for the damage before the insurance company pays. The higher the deductible, the lower the premium.
Beneficiary: one who gets the money when you die
Policy: Stated terms of your contract
Premium: $$ you send into the company to receive coverage
