The Quest for Transportation What is handed in for a grade

Introduction

One of the most important financial decisions we make is the purchase of a vehicle.  Aside from buying a home, a vehicle is probably one of life's biggest investments.

You have been assigned a mission to find the perfect vehicle (or at least one that is affordable).  There are many factors that go into finding an automobile

Read the following site to find out what you should do before buying a used vehicle:

The Task

You will be finding out all you can about various new and used vehicles. Assume that you will be driving the vehicle approximately 12,000 miles per year.

Driving your parent/guardian car is okay, but wouldn't it be fantastic to have your own car? How much would your car cost? Can you buy your own car? Where do you buy a car? What about this insurance issue? How will you pay for the car? There are sooooo many questions!!! Decisions...Decisions!!!

Major decisions are not always easy ones to make, unless one has gathered the facts to make a good decision. At the end of this Web Quest, the information you gathered will assist you in answering the following questions :

bulletOwning your own car, you must be financially able to purchase, maintain, afford, and enjoy your own car.  Or ???
bulletUse Mom & Dad's car for awhile yet

Teacher's Choice:  Now that you have found out about your vehicle, take all of the information and make a PowerPoint Presentation. Your presentation should contain all of the above information.  Additionally, you need to put in pictures of your vehicles. In your presentation, indicate which vehicle you would purchase (or choose to lease!) and why you made that choice. Students will use the computer and presentation mouse to present their presentations.
