How to use your Job Folder:

   

    CONSIDER your aptitude/ability/interest evaluations and how they relate to the job you are seeking

 

    CURRENT resume and reference list placed in this folder

 

    REFER to the examples you are placed in this folder when drafting new documents

 

REVIEW the information packets (interviewing, resumes, etc.) when in a job search  

  Your job folder should contain the following useful data:

 

q       Interest/aptitude/ability surveys (Minimum of 5.) Highlighted to show the most important characteristics of YOU! (I have highlighters at my desk.  Highlight only special selected parts, or I will take off points because you did not carefully read the material yourself)

(35 pts)

q       YOUR job and career categories defined by a printed report from the Occupational Outlook  Handbook. (Minimum of three careers.)  

        (27 Pts)

 

q      Verification that your Career Zone and/or MyRoad Portfolio is completed (8 Pts)

 

q      Report typed in Microsoft Word listing the three possible careers you have chosen (in above item) for yourself, including for each career:

q     The future education you will need to achieve a job in the career area(10 pts)

q      The physical location (ex) specific colleges or vocational schools) which offer the training program you will need (5 Pts)    

q The salary range of someone in this career (5 Pts)

q Job outlook...how much in demand will people pursuing jobs in this area be. (5 Pts)

q Working conditions (5 Pts)

 

q  Print out from http://www.collegeresults.org/default.htm "vital statistics" out the higher ed institution(s) you are interested in if you have targeted college on your career path

 

q  Print out the safety statistics out the higher ed institution(s) you are interested in if you have targeted college on your career path http://www.securityoncampus.org/crimestats/index.html

 

q Print out an actual job listing looking to hire someone in the top career area you chose for yourself. This can be a newspaper classified (on-line or hard copy) or job site such as www.monster.com
