Handwriting Without Tears®
This year we will be using a new handwriting program called Handwriting Without Tears®. With this program, children learn to print neatly and comfortably at the primary level. The sequence of instruction is sensible and developmentally-based. While children enjoy mastering their fluency in printing, they are building the skills that will make the transition to cursive easy.
In fifth grade this year we will be concentrating our efforts on practicing cursive. I will be requiring its use on some assignments.
You may also have noticed that the students have been using special paper for some assignments. This paper is designed to help students show their understanding for the proper formation of letters. I have already seen a remarkable improvement in student neatness by simply utilizing this paper. I have made this paper available below. Simply click on the piece of paper under this paragraph. Print it out, and your child can use it for almost any assignment!
