 Eragon by Christopher Paolini

Book review written by Angela M.

Eragon is a poor farm boy who is one of the only hunters brave enough to go into the Spine, a set of mountains said to be enchanted. He finds a mysterious stone there, only it isn’t really a stone. He doesn’t tell his Uncle and Cousin about the stone when it hatches. Eragon hatches the stone and it turns out to be a dragon’s egg! He touches it and gets a white spot on his palm. His uncle dies while he runs away with Saphira, his dragon. Brom, the village story-teller, finds him and goes with him. While it sounds like a lot    has happened, the novel has only just begun. I think this book is fiction. People should read this novel because it is a very interesting book to read if you like dragons or magic. I thought this was a very informative type of book. Dragons don’t really interest me that much, but magic does interest me a little and I just loved the book. If you like reading about a lot of deaths you will also love the book. There are two or three deaths in the book. If you want to find out who dies you will have to read the book to find out. There is also one other dragon rider in the book. There is also a special elf and a few dwarves.

This book review was written by Ryan P.

This book is about a desperate woman who is trying to survive on her own in freezing Alaska. She discovers a small wolf pack nearby her empty house. She decides that she wants to live among this small wolf pack. This book should be read because it is an amazing survival story that has three long parts to the book. If you finish this amazing book and thought it was great, there are two more fantastic books in the series called Julie and Julie’s Wolf Pack.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Book 5)

 Book review by Charlie R.

The book is the fifth one in the seven-book Harry Potter series. The book starts at Privet Drive where Harry spends his summer with the Durselys. When the Durselys leave one day a group of familiar and unfamiliar people come to help Harry. They take Harry to number twelve, Grimmauld Place. This place is unusual because there are screaming pictures, boggarts, a disgruntled house-elf, and a resident named Sirius Black. Harry starts his fifth year at Hogwarts with O.W.L.s coming up, Voldemort returning to full power, strange dreamlike things about the department of mysteries, and a family tragedy. If you like fantasy books that are suspenseful this book is for you. It is suspenseful because it has you waiting for something big to happen. Also try reading books 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6. Each of the books are fantastic and the series itself is excellent.

Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret

by

Judy Blume

 Review written by Jennifer R.

Are You There God? It’s me Margaret is a realistic fiction story. This story is about one sympathetic girl trying hard to get through a somewhat difficult life. She has two crushes; someone very secret and someone else that is in every sixth grade girl’s dreams, Phillip Leroy. When she goes to a boy, girl, birthday party and plays spin the glass bottle she spins and the adorable Phillip is on the other end!

Margaret has other horrible problems too. She is trying to find her true religion. Should she be Jewish like her father, or Christian like her mother? Or should she join the Y-club like everyone else?

You should read this interesting novel so you can fully understand the ups and downs of life. This is a wonderful novel, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Child of the Wolves

 Child of the Wolves Cover

Book review written by Dennis S.

This book is a realistic fiction about wolves. Child of the Wolves is about a husky living with a pack of wolves. He has to follow the rules of the pack. A lot of the wolves don’t like having a dog in their pack, so they are mean to him and do not allow him to hunt. The pack lets him hunt when he shows he’s mature enough to hunt with them. He sometimes wonders off from the pack but always comes back. Eventually, he runs away from the pack and feeds himself.  He learns how to catch food and survive by himself. The pack looks for him because the pure white wolf, Snowdrift, misses him. So if you like adventurous books in the frightening wilderness you should read this book.

Flush

FLUSH

Book review written by Katie T.

Flush is about a smart boy named Noah who knows (well he thinks) that an adult gambling ship called the Coral Queen is polluting the water.  His father was already in jail because he sank the Coral Queen.  Noah and his brave friends had to catch Dusty Muleman, the ship owner, and his crew in the terrible act of polluting the water.  But how?  They were only two useless children trying to accuse an adult of a huge crime.  It will be risky and dangerous but someone has to do it.  Are they the ones?  Flush is a realistic fiction story.  I think you should read it because people really do pollute illegally and Flush reveals how dangerous it is to be near a polluted place.

Also you should read this book because it made me a better person and I think it will do it to you also. Other books in the sires include A Light in the Storm, Voyage on the Great Titanic, and Survival in the Storm. These books are very touching and can sometimes be hurtful.
