Assignment: The adopt an element program is a three part program designed to give you an opportunity to research an element and present your information to the class.

Part 1: (40 points)

Part one of the project is a one-page report about your element. This report should have the title of the element centered at the top of the page in bold type. You are to use double spacing, #12 font and a one that is easy to read. Your report should include the following information about your element:

The number of protons and number of neutrons
The number of electrons (hint: protons are equal to electrons)
What class of elements does it belong to (metal, non metal, representative etc.)
The year it was discovered and by whom.
Its uses.
The source of element.
Atomic mass.
The group or family where it is found.
The cost of element (if available).
Any additional information you can find should also be included.

Your sources should be listed in correct bibliographic form at the end of your report.

Part 2: (40 points)

Part two of this project is a color advertisement of your element. The advertisement should have the Atomic Number in BLUE in the upper right hand corner. The elements Atomic Mass in RED should be in the lover left hand corer. This advertisement must be done in a power point presentation. The advertisement can feature one of the uses of your element and it is an attempt to "sell" the element to a buyer. If cost is available, please include it.

Part 3: (20 points)

On the completion of parts one and two you will present your element to the class. You will summarize your report and explain your advertisement. You are to present your element the week of October 5th.
