DEDICATION

Each year our production is dedicated to someone who has forever changed musical theatre here at Madrid-Waddington. This years production of Bye Bye Birdie is dedicated to Larry LaMere. Since 1982 Larry has served in various capacities such as technical Director, Master Carpenter, Stage Manager, and scenic Artist for twenty-nine musical and non- musical productions. During this time he has re-defined the reality of what can be built onto, into, and out from our stage. Larry's carpentry has become a trademark of any Madrid- Waddington production, the unveiling of which is an event in itself every year. As production week arrives Larry shifts gears and assembles a backstage crew charged with making everything slide, drop , swing, and pivot into position. Larry's management of this aspect of production is incredible. Over the years Larry's crews have executed a collage of stunning scene changes many would ( and did ) think impossible. Perhaps most importantly , Mr. LaMere insist these productions be for the betterment of out students. He is masterful at making " Work " fun and always looks for ways to teach as he goes. while I constantly remind a cast of what they are doing wrong, Mr. LaMere is always quick to let them know what they are doing right. Producing a show without Larry's presence as a teacher, friend, artist, carpenter, and a fan would simply not be possible. Thanks for everything Larry and enjoy the show!!!
