The very first event held in the MWCS auditorium was high school graduation for the class of 1962.  Though the school would not officially open until the following September, the auditorium was completed enough so as to give the general public their first glimpse of the new centralized facility.

From that beginning until the present day, the 600-plus-seat auditorium has been host to hundreds of student and community events for the Madrid-Waddington District.  Like the old-fashioned parlor, the auditorium has been our room reserved for special company and special moments.

Graduations of all sorts, kindergarten through high school, have been held here.  The rich theatrical tradition at Madrid-Waddington has had this facility playing host to no fewer than twenty-nine full-length Broadway musicals.  In general, major theatrical productions -- totaling more than sixty to date -- have been mounted virtually every year since its construction.

In addition to this, the numerous concerts and variety events have made this auditorium/stage complex one of the most heavily utilized public venues in the community.  Major renovations were undertaken in both 1991 and again in 1999, bringing the auditorium into the 21st century with outstanding technical theatre capabilities as well as an attractive aesthetic in the room itself.

The auditorium was dedicated in 2003 in memory of John Dinneen, a MW administrator whose twenty years at MW were marked by an unwavering support of the performing arts.  The facility stands as a testimony to the talents and efforts of the students, music teachers, and dramatics directors who have labored to bring a rich performing arts tradition to Madrid-Waddington.   Dinneen Lobby
