home of the yellow jackets

The Madrid-Waddington Central School was centralized in 1957 and geographically encompasses an area of 120 square miles in northern St. Lawrence County. The Junior- Senior High School was constructed in 1961, with extensive energy renovations completed in 1983 and 1996. Resulting from consolidation efforts, the elementary section was completed and opened in 1991. This very modern and spacious facility was enlarged and enhanced in 1998, and houses students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade 5. Presently, the district population is just under 800 students with a teaching staff of 61, an elementary principal, a secondary principal, guidance personnel, and a school nurse. More than 50 non-teaching personnel round out the staff. The district maintains a bus garage with a fleet of eleven buses,  four vans, and service vehicles.

We are very proud of the educational program provided by the District. Our major academic goal has been, and will continue to be, to furnish a high quality program to all students, regardless of their abilities or needs.  Most opportunities are provided by the district, while some are offered through the cooperative involvement of the St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES.  To provide a complete and well-rounded education, all students are strongly encouraged to actively participate in a  dramatics, music, forensics, or extra-curricular athletics.
