HIGH SCHOOL PROFILE
Madrid-Waddington High School is actually organized in a junior-senior high school structure. We are housed on a central campus along with the elementary school. Our school serves approximately 425 students in grades 6-12. Led by Principal Joseph Ruddy, the junior-senior high school is organized as a grade 9-12 high school, with an integrated middle school for grades 6-8. The school day begins at 7:40 and ends at 2:50. Many students are eligible for early dismissal at 2:08. The staff has approximately twenty-seven classroom teachers, as well as two guidance counselors and their secretary, one secretary to the principal, and a Special Education staff serving the entire district.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Madrid-Waddington Central's emphasis is on producing a well-rounded student of good character, who possesses integrity and a sense of citizenship. Each of our departments is staffed by an outstanding faculty that is committed to teaching excellence.
We believe that a stable environment helps a student to feel safe and allows them confidence to experiment and to grow. Traditionally our teachers come here and spend their entire careers with us. Many students are anxious to return to work for the district in every imaginable capacity. And since
1957 when Madrid and Waddington centralized there have only been a total of four Superintendents and four High School Principals over that fifty year period. This speaks volumes about the kind of school setting we enjoy. Our communities are our greatest resource as they continue their long tradition of unwavering support for our students and our programs. Our student activities strike a comfortable balance
among a variety of athletic, musical, artistic, dramatic, oratorical and other creative avenues. Though surely I am somewhat biased by my time spent here as a student, an English teacher, and now principal, I believe there is no better small public high school in all of New York State.
