Friday COVID-19 Update

We hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy in the midst of stay-at-home guidance. Although raking the yard is not every student’s idea of a cure for boredom, we have, thankfully, been provided with some unseasonably warm weather which makes it nice to get outside.

The Governor has officially extended the State-wide school closure and we are hopefully still on track for an April 20 return to school. We want to provide a couple of updates to our school closure services as part of our COVID-19 response. Maintaining essential services for our school community while focusing on protecting our staff and being socially responsible is certainly a difficult balancing act.

All aspects have worked effectively thus far due to the remarkable dedication and willingness to serve the community demonstrated by the Madrid-Waddington faculty and staff. There is no doubt this “student first” attitude will see us through this difficult time, however we do need to make some adjustments to our services to minimize potential health risks due to the spread of COVID-19.

Beginning Monday, March 30, the District office will be available daily for phone calls from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., and please feel free to email with any needs. As our educational engagement continues we are fully focused on providing as much internet-based instruction as possible to reduce the amount of time people need to be in contact in the building. We are still able to provide paper packets to families who do not have internet access.

For the coming week, meal service will continue at the current four locations with Monday being a single breakfast/lunch and Tuesday/Thursday being a double breakfast/lunch for a two day period.

This has been a huge adjustment for everyone and we are extremely grateful for the positive community spirit that is the hallmark of Madrid-Waddington.

Take care and stay healthy.
