Key Club Students Participate in Unified Sports Event

On Tuesday, March 12, members of the MWCS Key Club participated in the inaugural Section X event for Unified Sports at SUNY Potsdam’s Maxcy Hall. Unified Sports is a registered program of Special Olympics that combines athletes with and without intellectual disability on sports teams for training and competition. The purpose of a Unified Sports team is to provide authentic, competitive opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities to participate in athletics. MW students served as partners with the Unified Sports
athletes and participated in a variety of team-building activities as well as basketball scrimmages.
MW Key Club members who participated include Cassidy Hargrave, Jordyn Miller, Alexis Sullivan, Maggie Murphy, Hailey Quintavalle, Katie Bateman,
Maria Allen, Julia Cochrane, Anna Brady, Jaelynn Uppstrom, Brennan Harmer and Brice Robertson. They were accompanied by Mrs. Siddon, Key Club Advisor, and Mr. Harmer, Athletic Director.
