9 Students in Grades 8-12 who represent the Madrid-Waddington Drone Soccer team will head to Virginia Tech to compete against 15 other teams from around the United States and one team from Istanbul, Turkey. Last April, in their first year of national competition, the M-W team ranked 6th nationally. Here's wishing them good luck this weekend in Virginia.
In March, the M-W team competed against Region II teams (inclusive of NY, NJ, DE, and PA) and won the regional competition, placing first. Winning the regional competition gained them invitation to the national competition in Virginia.
The Drone Soccer Team is comprised of students in grades 8-12 and this year's roster includes: Larry Blakemore, Murphy Burke, Declan Coakley, Caleb Dousharm, Tyree Hawkins, Brycen Hitsman, Phebe Grandy, Kasey Long, and Samantha Milburn.
The team is always looking for new members, so consider joining us for this class next year if you will be in grades 8-12.
